KING OF THE MOUNTAIN

This will be a series of games played through-out the Jubilee until Saturday afternoon. Entrants must either challenge the current Champ or come with a match if there is no Champ. Each challenger must pay a $1.00 entry fee to play. A match will consist of the "Best of Three" games. Ringer rules (American Marbles) will be followed. A champ does not pay an entry fee to defend his title. The winner of a match may choose to defend his mountain or retire and claim a bag of marbles. Those who are Champ after five consecutive matches will be declared "King (Queen) of the Mountain" and will be awarded a Certificate of Accomplishment. After being declared "King" {Queen), a player will only be allowed to play other "Kings."

For those who are not competitive, a ring will be available to learn how to play marbles. Come on down and have some fun, the old fashioned way!

MOUNTAIN MAN - JUBILEE

Entering in the Mountain Man Tournaments will be based on our 2008 American Marble Tournament. All may enter this tournament except those who finishe in the "Top Eight." Those who were in the "Top Eight" will be entered into the Jubilee Tournament. All participants in the Mountain Man and Jubilee tournament will be under 15 by June 1, 2009. We will also have a young adult division (ages 15 to 23) and an adult division. Trophies will be awarded to top three places in each of these tournaments. The director will place contestants who have no experience with the American Marble tournament.

PRE-REGISTRATION entry fee will be 5.00 dollars if received by AUGUST 28, 2008. Entry will be accepted until 11:00 Labor Day Saturday at $7.00. The amateur competitions will be completed on Saturday.

MOUNTAIN MAN DEMONSTRATION:

Over the years the rules for ringer have changed. Through research we have discovered the rules used in the early 1920's. We call these rules "Mountain Man Marbles." To keep these rules active and alive, we recruit some of the marble shooters and play several games to let people know how a game would have been played in that era.

Much more emphasis is placed on strategy in this set of rules. A player has many options and has to decide which option is the best one. A player must know his own skill and the skill of his oponent. A wrong decision could mean the loss of many points.

BEST SHOT:

In the game of ringer, a stick occurs when a player is able to knock out seven marbles on the first turn. At the Mountain Man anything can happen. Not all shooters have mastered "THE CARPET." At the Mountain Man Tournament-2008 our best shot will be the first person who knocks out seven marbles in one turn or is the last shooter standing.

Any one may participate in this competition.

If no player is able to knock out a marble on a round, all will be given another chance. In order to remain in play, players must knock out at least one marble. If no one gets a stick, additional rounds will be played with those players who knocked out at least one marble. Additional rounds will begin with the players with least amount of marbles knocked out on the previous round.
